Master of Ceremony

Master of Ceremony (MC)

Men and women of the parish, including high school students, are invited to serve as Masters of Ceremony. The MC prepares for the celebration of the Eucharist.

Preparation before Mass includes having the chalices, cups, Sacramentary, Lectionary, unconsecrated hosts and wine, hand-washing needs, and altar cloths ready for the Eucharistic celebration. During the Offertory, in preparation for the Eucharistic Prayer, the MC sets up the altar for the celebrant with the pall, purificator, corporal, empty chalices and unconsecrated hosts. After Mass, the MC returns to the altar to clear away the used vessels and purificators and returns them to the sacristy for cleaning.

In addition, the MC ensures that there are Altar Servers and Eucharistic Ministers assembled and ready for the Mass.

MCs are scheduled for the Mass times that they prefer to attend. Training sessions are held throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Upon completion of the training, the new MCs are commissioned at a Mass.

If you are interested in serving as an MC, contact Jon Rowley (509-308-2843) to sign up for training.
