Christian Initiation of Children (CIC)

If you have a 4th-8th grade student that has missed one of their Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism or First Communion), CIC is the Religious Education Class for your child! We offer two classes and these take place on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m. from late September to late April. Students who have been baptized will receive First Reconciliation in January and First Communion in April. Students who have not been baptized will receive Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation in May.

In CIC, your student will learn about salvation history, the seven sacraments, the traditions of the Catholic faith and about how much God loves each one of us. We follow the God's Gift curriculum from Loyola Press. We have several family activities throughout the year, including the Ceremony of Light and Bread Night, beloved traditions here at Christ the King. Students will be expected to complete the required homework every week and come to class prepared to discuss and participate. A parent or guardian is required to attend every class with their student(s).

We have two fees for CIC: a $40 Religious Education registration fee and a $25 Sacrament fee per child. An UPDATED BAPTISMAL CERTIFCATE and Birth Certificate are required for registration (if not baptized at CK). Registration for CIC will open the first week of August.

If you have a 9th-12th grader in need of these sacraments, this preparation will be included in the High School Youth Group classes.
