Knights of Columbus #3307 Blood Drive: Friday, Oct. 2 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Columbian Hall (2500 Chester Rd in Richland). Visit www.RedCrossBlood.org and enter richlandknights to make an appointment. Free root beer floats for all donors!
The blood drive will benefit some of our parishioners, through the Knights’ ‘Brotherhood Fund.’
St. Joseph’s parish in Kennewick is offering a parish mission, October 5-9. Sessions are Monday-Wednesday in English, and Thursday and Friday in Spanish, all at 7 p.m. Daily talks M-F after the morning Mass (8:30 a.m.) in English. A Reflection from Msgr. Champoux
Here is another harvest hymn, from the Divine Office (Wednesday Week 3 Evening Prayer), which emphasizes God’s providence in nourishing us and guides us in caring for others.
O Father, whose creating hand
Brings harvest from the fruitful land,
Your providence we gladly own,
And bring our hymn before your throne
To praise you for the living bread
On which our lives are daily fed.
O Lord, who in the desert fed
The hungry thousands in their need,
Where want and famine still abound
Let your relieving love be found,
And in your name may we supply
Your hungry children when they cry.
O Spirit, your revealing light
Has led our questing souls aright,
Source of our science, you have taught
The marvels human minds have wrought,
So that the barren deserts yield
The bounty by your love revealed.
