 Lenten Mass Schedule and Activities

Weekday Lenten Masses will be at 6:30 and 8:00AM and 5:30PM, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will continue on Fridays, 8:30AM to 5:00PM and Sundays 2:00-3:00PM

Lenten Soup Suppers

On Fridays, we will have Soup Suppers at 6PM followed by Stations of the Cross at 6:45.

Holy Week Masses will be on March 29-April 4.

Monday-Wednesday-6:30AM, 8AM and 5:30AM

Holy Thursday - 5:30PM

Good Friday - Noon Stations of the Cross; 3:00 and 5:30PM - The Lord's Passion

Saturday Easter Vigil - 7:30PM

Easter Sunday - 6:30AM, 8:00AM, 9:30 AM and 11:30AM in both the church and gym

Penance

Confessions are Saturdays at 3:30PM or by appointment.

Penance services will also take place in the Tri-Cities as follows:

Tuesday, March 23 - Christ the King - 7PM

Operation Rice Bowl

As part of our community's observane of Lent, we ask all familes to participate in Catholic Relief Services' Operation Rice Bowl, a program of prayer, fasting, learning and giving. Rice bowls are in the foyer of the church. Please take a packet home and follow this simple yet powerful Lenten practice.

Cursillo News

A Lenten Day of Spiritual Renewal will be held on Saturday, March 20 from 10:00AM-4:30PM at Parish of the Holy Spirit. All Cursillistas and interested parishioners are welcome to attend. Father Robert Siler of the Diocesan Pastoral Office will be the guest speaker. Please bring a sack lunch. There will be a Vigil Mass at 4:30PM.

Catholics Come Home

Fr. Larry Reilly, a Yakima Diocese Moral Theologian, will speak on Sexuality and Moral issues of our times. Sponsored by Catholics Come Home, the talk will be on Monday, March 22 at 7PM in the Gathering Space. If you have specific issues you wouuld like addressed, contact Kay at 946.1154 Ext. 222.


 Annual Catholic Appeal 2010

The bishop funds the programs, services and ministries supported by the Annual Catholic Appeal to meet the needs of Catholics here in the Diocese of Yakima. Our goal for supporting the Bishop's work in the Diocese of Yakima this year is $193,465. Funds over our assessment are returned to the parish.  Tuesday Morning Coffee

All parishioners are invited to Tuesday Morning coffee every Tuesday after the 8AM Mass. Share faith and fellowship in the Christ the King Multi-Purpose Room over a cup of warm coffee or tea, sweet breads, brownies and more! Donations are accepted. Contact Pat Ehlert for more information.


Religious Education

Christ the King offers Religious Education for children starting at the age of 3 (must be 3 prior by August 31) all the way to high school. We strongly encourage our parishioners to enroll their children in faith formation classes. We also offer a wide selection of Adult Religious Education courses including Bible studies. First Communion

Bread Night will be on Tuesday, March 16 for families with last names beginning with A-M and Wednesday, March 17 for families with last names beginning with N-Z. Both nights begin at 7PM and take place in the school cafeteria. You will receive further information about Bread Night in the mail. Parent Night

In this session, Love and Logic Facilitator Kristin Jarman presents the two pillars of Love and Logic parentin - logical consequences and empathy. She'll discuss differences in helicopter, drill sergeant, and consultant parents, and provide tips on how to build responsibility in your children by using a simple four step process that can be adapted to almost any situation. Please join us in the computer lab from 7-8PM. Childcare is available upon reservation. Call the church office at 946.1154.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School will be held on June 14-18, 2010. The theme will be High Seas Expedition. We are still looking for adult volunteers to help organize Vacation Bible School. We are also looking for a music coordinator to lead music throughout the week and high school and college-aged students to serve as crew leaders. If you are interested in helping out with Vacation Bible School, please contact VBS Director, Carrie Hallquist at 628.9669, Michelle Portch at 371.1445 or the Religious Education office at 946.1154. Bible Study

The following classes will begin in January 2010.

The Gospel According to Matthew: The extensive teaching sections of this Gospel were used to instruct Christians in the early centuries of the church. This study will reacquaint you with the Master Teacher. This class lasts for ten weeks with video lectures and discussions on Tuesdays from 9-11AM.

Second Corinthians: Come to know the forceful but lovng character of Paul, one of the best known figures in the early Church. Arguing from his own experience of discipleship and ministry, Paul continues to promote unity in a divided and confused Corinth. This class will meet on Wednesdays from 9-11AM and Tuesdays 7-9PM.

Young Adults

Tri-Cities Young Adults will be getting together on Thursday nights at the Christ the King Youth Center from 7-9PM. These events are open to all young adults ages 18-30. Newcomers are always welcome! Questions? Call Kay at 946.1154 Ext. 222.

Thursday Prayer for Peace

Join the Social Justice and Peace Committee to pray Vespers for Peace 5:30-5:50PM each Thursday in the chapel.


Faith Sharing-For MEN Only

Join Fr. Taneo and other men seeking to deepen their understanding of the Scripture. Each session will include reading Scripture, reflection and discussion. RCIA

Irish Games

St. Patrick's School fundraiser, Irish Games, will be held March 19-20 at TRAC. It's a weekend worth a pot of gold with plenty of food, entertainment, a car show, 3 on 3 basketball, arm wrestling tournament, the Dubliner pub and the return of the Davis Shows carnival. Event admission is $5 and children under 6 are free!

Hours are from 4PM-1:30AM on Friday ant 8AM to 1:30AM on Saturday.

Tickets for Friday's Put the Nuns in Charge! are $20; the concert on Saturday night is 21 and over with $10 cover charge. (Ticket and cover include admission to the games.) Tickets can be purchases in advance at the TRAC box office, traconline.com and Kennewick Ranch and Home. Rejoice: A Catholic LIfe Ministries Conference for Men

Rejoice: A Catholic LIfe Ministries Conference for Men will be held April 16 and 17 at Camp Kiononia, led by Fr. Stan Bosch, ST. 40 Days for Life

The 40 Days for Life all day long prayer vigil continues outside of Planned Parenthood in Kennewick through Sunday March 28. We need your support to pray for an end of abortion and fill several hours per day of unfilled prayer slots. Thanks to all those who have already participated since the start of Lent. We have already had over 100 prayer volunteers!


St. Anne's Helpers

Do you know a parish family that is expecting a baby or one that has recently celebrated a birth? Let St. Anne's Helpers help in welcoming the new baby by providing a meal for the family after mom comes home from the hospital. St. Vincent dePaul Society

The Parish of St. Vincent dePaul Society is in need of beds. If you have clean, serviceable beds/mattresses to donate, we can put them to good use for needy families. We are unable to handle king size beds or hide-a-bed couches. Please call 375.0765 or 375.1647 to arrange for pick up. We currently have an ample supply of sheets and blankets. We thank you for your past generosity and support.


Central Washington Catholic Foundation Scholarships

CWCF is offering two scholarships, one in memory of Mary Ellen Chott-Mahre ($1,000-6,000) and the other in memory of John Rodriguez-Kranz ($500-1,000). Information and applications can be found on the CWCF website at www.cwcatholicfoundation.org Application deadline is April 1.
