Cursillo Movement

Cursillo is both a movement and a method. There is both an immediate purpose and an ultimate one. The immediate purpose is to help persons live what is fundamental for being a Christian - love of God and love of neighbor, experienced through three encounters: the encounter with oneself, the encounter with Christ, and the encounter with others. The ultimate purpose is to establish Christianity in society by living it in daily life. The goal of the movement is not about "preaching the Good News" and becoming Evangelicals, but becoming the Good News and in a natural way the actions will become evangelical in daily life.

It starts with three days of focus on the person and teaching of Jesus Christ. During the three days the Cursillistas live and work together, listening to talks given by priests and lay people. They also attend Mass, receive Communion, pray the Rosary and visit the Blessed Sacrament. The community spirit and support is continued after the three days through reunions of small groups called fourth day groups and large ULTREYA groups. Cursillo is a means of finding inspiration, direction and support for one's Christian life, and is open to all adult Catholics.
